Arc'teryx アークテリクス製品の発色の良さは異常。他メーカーの数歩先をいってる気がします。
創業者のデイブ・レインは西海岸で有名なクライマーだったが、当時市販されていたクライミングのハーネスに満足していなかった。
そこで彼は、自分で製品を作ってしまおうと考えた。良い素材と、最良の製造方法で、より良い製品を作りだすために「ロックソリッド」という会社を立ち上げる。そして、ハーネスや スリングなどのクライミング道具を中心に制作を始めた。のちにクライマー仲間のジェレミー・ガードが加わり「アークテリクス」が誕生する。
デイブが納得できるハーネスを作り上げたのは、創業から3年後の1993年であった。現在同社の製品開発エンジニアであるマイク・ブレンカーンが自作したマウンテンバイクを担ぎ上げるショルダヨークからアイデアをもらい完成させた。
熱成型フォームによる三次元加工技術を採用し、革命的な「ヴェイパーハーネス」を作り出すことに成功した。このハーネスの噂はあっという間に広がり、世界中の人が「Arc'teryx」の名前を知ることになった。
その後、バックパックやアウトドアウエア全般まで手がけるようになるのだが、いずれの製品も優れた完成度で正解中で評価され続けている。
「Arc'teryx」の思想のもとにあるのは、デザイン、素材、製法という3つの要素を妥協せずに融合させること。いずれかが欠けてしまったら最高品質の製品は生まれないとの信念で製品を生み出しているのだ。
